Vancouver is known for it's fantastic line-up of great nightclub's, bar's and pub's alike. But however, we do not want to leave out the choices for a fantastic dinner before you move on to the nightlife aspect of the city of Vancouver.

Playing host to the 2010 Winter Olympics brings much pride to this part of the world. The citizens of Vancouver are some of the most loyal people to their city and surrounding area I have ever met. Why is this you ask? The natural beauty of the city is a definite strong answer, and of course, one of the other main aspects that makes Vancouver so great is it's downtown core and the cultural diversities that it provides. This city is by far the best city to host the 2010 Winter Olympics in. This will prove to be one of the 'Best' Olympics ever.

Here are some of the great restaurants and pubs that are a must visit while you are in Vancouver taking in the 2010 Winter Games:

With 5 crustacean tanks alone in the cafe, serving everything from fresh prawns (shrimp) to fresh lobster as well as only the freshest crab you will find anywhere. A very popular spot to seek out celebrities when they are in Vancouver, the Blue Water cafe makes for one of those perfect spots for a romantic date or even a serious business meeting. Don't miss this hot spot when you visit Vancouver.

Simply Thai offers the best in authentic Thai food and the service is world renown. Vancouver Welcomes the World in just 18 Months...

Beijing ended with amazing authority. A production that will forever be remembered as one of the most dynamic games in the history of the Olympic tradition. From the opening ceremonies all the way through the games, and then finishing off with the closing ceremonies, China in fact was an amazing host country that will never be forgotten for it's incredible presentation of the 2008 Summer Olympics. And now we are in the final 18 months of preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver BC, Canada, and things are right on schedule. Almost all of the venues are virtually ready to take on their participants. Not failing to mention how set and excited the city and it's people are for the long awaited arrival of the world. For those that have not been fortunate enough to travel to Vancouver, these Olympic games will turn Vancouver into an amazing tourist destination more so than Vancouver already is. Vancouver is known around the world as being consistently ranked in the top five most livable cities in the world and all for good reason. The scenic beauty is first and foremost some of the most incredible in the world. How many city's in the world are you aware of that that on any given day during the winter months you can head up one of the three local mountains in the morning and indulge in world class skiing, come down the mountain for lunch and then head to golf course and play 9 holes, and if your even really in the mood after your 9 hole round of golf you can head out in a boat and drop a line for a couple of hours. That's right, skiing, golf and fishing all in one day, all not even twenty minutes from each other. Vancouver is incredibly diverse in it's culture. There are many different nationalities that all call Vancouver home and that's what makes it so unique. There isn't a friendlier city in the world. It is very exciting to know that Vancouver will be showcased during these Olympic Games. We are not only hosting the world, but we are inviting the world to come and enjoy this amazing city before, during and after the 2010 Winter Games, as once you've experienced Vancouver in the Winter, you'll surely want to come back and see for yourself what summer is all about. There will be a website launch in October-November of this fall, http://www.vancouvervibez.com/ , that will allow you to experience Vancouver in your own ways via the web and even make you feel as though you are there during the Olympics. You can even make plans to attend the Olympics. Keep in mind, just like the licence plates for British Columbia say "Beautiful British Columbia: The Best Place on Earth" it's true.

Canada Finally Breaks Medal Drought...

WOW...what a last three to four days for Canada in the Summer Olympics in Beijing. It was looking as though Canada might possibly be shutout of these games, all be it unlikely, it was sneaking into the backs of peoples minds, and then WHAM, Silver in the Trampoline, thats awesome. We scored a bronze in the men's 1500 m freestyle, thats pretty cool, and not to mention our rowers were kicking some serious ass...way to go Team Canada.

Now lets see if we can keep up the good work and continue to stay on the podium.

Good luck the rest of the way.

Team Canada Still Medal Less In Beijing Maybe False Hopes For Vancouver...

So here we are on Day 7 of the Summer Olympics in Beijing and still no medal (medals) for Team Canada. Not so much as a sniff at the podium as of yet. What is the deal? It keeps getting uglier and uglier as the games continue on. Sitting, watching and hoping that maybe someone, anybody might show a glimmer of hope and sneak in to the medals received category. Lets face it, it's not looking good. What do we have left? OK, the track and field events, do we have anyone there that might Pole Vault us to a bronze? Maybe in the discus or hey maybe the javelin? Shot put anybody? I'm going to give this a big fat I DON'T THINK SO. I know the spirit is there, but it's down right embarrassing to be hosting the next games as the host nation and to think that the news will say something to the effect of "And the medal less country of Canada in the Beijing games" I mean really, c'mon. What happened to the days of Ben Johnson, oh yeah, he cheated didn't he? I don't even remember it was so long ago...oh dear. Maybe cheating again would at least let us believe that we are capable of more than just hockey at least until they catch whoever dope's them selves up. Is it the laid back mentality of Canadians in general? If so I'd look out when everyone comes together for 2010 in Vancouver, we all know about the west coast syndrome that takes place out there. First of all it's a grave for hockey players, the Lion's don't play enough games in Vancouver to figure out the west coast syndrome and oh yeah, there's a baseball team that plays at the Nat, but who really cares about them...I mean great for the young players developing their games and all but really, c'mon now. So what will happen in the Olympics? Will the country come together and have one big party in Vancouver? Because that's what it's looking as though we're going to face. I think all the athletes should be kept in barracks during the games so their performance levels are up to what we Canadians want and like to see. No more of this flop crap...first of all we want the Stanley Cup back north of the border and more so than that we want Team Canada Gold in 2010 and lots of them, so lets get together and start showing how important it is to us for some podium finishes in Beijing and in 2010 in Vancouver.

Deadly Landslide Closes Vancouver's Sea To Sky Highway...

How does the deadly landslide on Vancouver's Sea to Sky highway look for the 2010 Winter Games? After all the Sea to Sky highway is the gateway the Olympic Games in Whistler. This leads us to this question: In the case of a catastrophic landslide that could very well close the highway for days, is there an alternate plan in place in case of this. Currently the answer is NO. The alternate route in and out of Whistler is on a road by the name 'Duffy Lake', which first off is gravel for the majority of the road and second off makes the trek back from Whistler over eight hours. This would be less than par for the Athletes, and spectators alike, not to mention the residents of this ever growing area. So brings this question: What about a ferry service running from Vancouver's Horseshoe Bay to Squamish? The cost of building an alternate highway to access Whistler is far to great and having said that, there is no way it would be even close to complete for the games. There was look at the a ferry service during this most recent landslide outside of Vancouver but according to the Transportation Safety Authority in Vancouver, the old 'emergency' dock in Squamish was not fit to be put back into use. So why not spend a couple of million dollars and upgrade that ferry berth. It makes complete sense, as Squamish is past the major landslide or avalanche zone. The main concern is in between a stretch from Lion's Bay to Britannia and beyond that the likely hood of a massive landslide in that area is slim. BC Ferries could have a field day with a new service between Vancouver and Squamish during the Olympics, they could probably make the money they lost on the 'Fast Ferries'...my god, what a joke they were after a hundred million or so! But this has to sound like a logical and reasonable way to solve the problem, the dock could be upgraded well in time for the Olympics, it would generate more services for the bus companies, Squamish's economy would sky rocket during the Olympics and everybody would be happy. A ferry from Vancouver to Squamish, What a concept. By the way, thank the higher powers that be that no one was injured or killed in that most recent landslide outside of Vancouver, so lets give people the option of taking the ferry or driving on the newly upgraded highway. The ferry service will provide more than just an alternate route of transportation, it will provide an option and a way out in the event of a disaster. A back up plan is a must.
